My Hospital Stay

Hello all, I am writing from the hospital.  I have been in here for a couple of days but I will tell you all how it started.  Starting on about last Friday I started having pain in my epigastric (lower chest) area, I just brushed it off as heart burn and kept going, but on Monday I was working and the pain was so severe that I couldn't ignore it anymore, so I talked to the floor and they said go home, or to L&D to be examined.  Well, I didn't think that I needed to go to L&D yet, I am only 33 weeks, and I was pretty sure the baby was just causing some rib pain from how big he is.  I went tell my boss about what was going on and she said, lets just take you up to get examined cuz I was in such severe pain.  She was wonderful and wheeled me up in a chair and helped me out so much with my time off stuff I needed.  I work for a fabulous department, they call and check on me everyday and it is just so nice to know that they care and are there to help out.  Well long story short, I was spilling protein in my urine and my blood pressure was elevated a bit.  So I got an admit ticket to stay in the hospital until my Dr decided what to do about this situation.  Yeah!  Get to stay on a floor where I work and I know a lot of people on it.  I get transferred over and they say we are going to give you steroids to accelerate the babies lung development, do a few more tests that take a little over a day to run and figure out from there.  Looking at all the lab values and knowing what they mean it just freaks me out and of course I assume the worst possible thing, which is buy time to get all the steroids in then deliver the baby.  Well the lab tests came back not good, but not bad so the decision my MD made today is to keep me in the hospital, I am not stable enough to send home, and keep me pregnant as long as possible then deliver this baby either when I become unstable or I am term.   So I am just hanging out, being watched, monitored, and enjoying some bed rest before baby comes.  Riley has been wonderful, he hasn't really left my side except to go home for a few minutes shower and grab some stuff that we need.  I just love him so much!  Our families have been wonderful, they have checked on us and asked if we needed stuff.  We just ask that you keep us in your prayers please, this has been scary experience but we we are so excited to meet this baby when he is a little more grown.

  2. Oh darn that is scary! Knowing everything can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Try to let the nurses do the worrying and let them take care of you, everything will work out! We're praying and thinking of you guys. Hopefully you have enough time to read a good book or two :)
